1. About these terms of use
1.1. Purpose of the terms of use
These terms govern your use of the VRT international website to view, listen to, read and/or use or reuse VRT (Sales) content.
By using the VRT International website you accept these terms automatically and unconditionally.
VRT recommends you to read the terms carefully before using the VRT international website.
1.2. “VRT international website”, “VRT content” and “VRT Sales Content”.
The VRT international website is the website www.vrtinternational.com which is operated by VRT and allows users to get to know and get in touch with our Innovation department, VRT Sandbox department (which focuses on start- and scale-ups), VRT Sales and the international B2B communication of VRT.
Through this website, VRT offers two types of content:
VRT Content: This refers to all content on the VRT international website. For example, articles, images or news information seen on pages related to innovation, sales, VRT sandbox or VRT.
VRT Sales Content: This is the content provided by VRT Sales through the website after the user is logged on. This is professional content intended for purchase managers of broadcasters, streaming and online films/series/documentary providers and/or on-demand platforms. The VRT Sales content in essence concerns (preview) videos (full episodes or excerpts) of programmes (fiction and non-fiction) produced by or on behalf of the VRT. VRT Sales content is provided by VRT solely for users who registered on the VRT Sales website and for the purpose of previewing the VRT Content. Users do not acquire rights to the VRT Sales content. If the user is interested in the VRT Sales Content for its own use, please contact the Sales department.
1.3. Who is the provider of the VRT website and VRT (Sales) content?
The VRT international website and VRT (Sales) content are provided by the ‘Vlaamse Radio- en Televisie-omroeporganisatie (the Flemish Radio and Television broadcasting corporation) (hereinafter referred to as the “VRT”). The VRT is a limited liability company governed by public law, with our registered office at Auguste Reyerslaan 52, 1043 Brussels, and registered in the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (CBE) under company number 0244.142.664.

1.4. Do I need to read other terms?
We recommend you to also read our privacy and cookie notice. These notices explain how VRT handles your personal data and which cookies are used on the VRT international website.
The VRT international website sometimes allows access to external websites (by linking to them, for example) or some form of interactivity with them (e.g., social media). These external websites will have their own general terms and conditions, which also apply. The VRT has no say in these terms and recommends that you also read them.
1.5. Do the terms of use ever change?
The VRT can change and update these terms of use, the privacy and cookie notice at any time. The amended terms of use will be published on the website and will apply from the moment they are published. The VRT advises you to regularly check whether new conditions are in force. The date of the latest version is stated at the bottom of this page.
2. Access and use of the VRT international website
2.1. How do I access the VRT international website?
The VRT international website is accessible free of charge. The majority of the website can be accessed without a login. Only for the VRT Sales subsite you will need an account if you want full access to all of its content.
When creating an account, VRT asks you for personal data such as your email address, (sur)name, addresses, telephone number, company, job title and country. Why VRT asks for this information and what it does with it is explained in the privacy and cookie notice.
Please note that in case an account is created (VRT Sales account), this account needs to be approved by VRT, before the user can log on.
You will need to use a password to set up a VRT Sales account. The password you choose should not be too obvious and must offer adequate security. Your password is personal and you mustn't share it with anyone else. You must also take precautions to keep it safe. You are responsible for everything done through your profile when your password is used.
2.2. What can I use the VRT international website for (and what not)?
You can use the VRT international website as long as you adhere to these terms of use and abide by the applicable laws and regulations.
The VRT international website can be used to get to know and get in touch with the Innovation department, VRT Sandbox, VRT Sales and the B2B Communication of the Flemish Public Broadcaster (VRT).

VRT Sandbox offers several services to start- and scale ups, from coaching to validating their products.
VRT Sales showcases VRT Sales content with the possibility to preview content in order to buy or license programmes.
The VRT international website and/or VRT Sales content may only be used to assist you in your decision to buy or license some or all of the VRT (Sales) content. Under no circumstance may you use VRT (Sales) content for commercial or other purposes without first obtaining the express and written consent of the VRT. See section 4. In addition, the VRT website and/or VRT (Sales) content:
may not be used to break the law and/or infringe the rights of the VRT or third parties. This includes intellectual property rights (such as copyrights, related rights, trademark rights) and/or privacy.
may not be used for purposes contrary to the public order or morality or purposes that are discriminatory, offensive, defamatory or injurious, or violate the rights of others in any other way.
may not be used outside the context in which they are offered by the VRT and/or used in a manner that discredits the VRT or makes the VRT liable to third parties.
may not be used in a manner which creates the impression that the VRT is associated with a third person, product, service, content, opinion, belief or conviction, or that the VRT supports or approves of any of these.
may only be used in the form in which the VRT makes them available to you. You may not process, copy, decompile, ‘reverse engineer’ or exploit them in any other way, nor assist others to do so.
may not be used in such a way that they are affected or damaged, by uploading computer viruses or other harmful files, for example, or by circumventing security on the VRT website.
may not be used in any other unlawful manner.
3. About the rights to the VRT international website and VRT (Sales) content.
Who owns the rights to the VRT international website and VRT (Sales) content?
The VRT international website and/or VRT (Sales) content are protected by intellectual copyrights, including copyrights and related rights, trademark rights, database rights and computer software rights. These rights are owned by the VRT and/or third parties (such as license issuers or users).
You may not copy, process, publish, exploit or use the VRT website and/or VRT (Sales- content in any other way without the prior and express consent of the VRT and/or these third parties, unless explicitly allowed in these terms of use.
The VRT implements technical security measures to protect its rights and/or the rights of third parties on the VRT website and/or VRT (Sales) content. You may not circumvent, remove or alter these security measures or enable others to do so.
4. About re-using of the VRT international website and/or VRT (Sales) content on my own website or social media (such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok), for example.
4.1. May I download or copy the VRT international website and/or VRT (Sales) content, publish it on other websites or platforms, or re-use it in another way?
VRT holds or licenses the rights (copyrights, trademark rights) to the VRT (Sales) content it broadcasts and offers. Therefore, you may only (re)use VRT (Sales) content if you have obtained a prior and express consent from the VRT, or if you have signed a contract with VRT which stipulates the terms under which you may (re)use the VRT (Sales) content, or are acting under an exception from copyright law (see e.g. 4.2 regarding the “embedding” of content). For example, if you want to use an excerpt from a VRT programme on your website or social media profile, you need to obtain permission from VRT. This applies both if you want to use VRT (Sales) content for commercial and non-commercial purposes.
VRT takes technical security measures to protect the VRT website and/or VRT (Sales) content against reuse. You may not circumvent, remove or modify these measures in order to reuse the VRT website and/or VRT (Sales) content, nor may you enable others to do so.
It is also not allowed to (have) the VRT (Sales) content consulted automatically, for example via scripts, spiders and/or bots. VRT reserves the right to withdraw its permission for the (re)use of its online services and/or content at any time.
4.2. May I include on my own website or other websites (such as LinkedIn) hyperlinks or embedded links to the VRT international website and VRT (Sales) content?
You may only link, share or otherwise make reference to the VRT international website and/or VRT content on your own or another website, if you have obtained the prior and express consent of the VRT.
A hyperlink is allowed, provided that when the visitor to your website clicks on the link and is directed to the VRT international website. The URL address of the VRT international website must always be clearly visible in the link. In all circumstances the following are forbidden: copying, framing, republishing, editing or adding of material published on the VRT international website.
5. About protecting your personal data
VRT considers the protection of your personal data extremely important. The privacy and cookie notice describe how the VRT handles your personal data and which cookies are used on the VRT website.
6. About complaints
What can I do if I have a complaint about the VRT international website and/or VRT (Sales) content?
Complaints about the VRT international website and/or the VRT (Sales) content must be submitted via the official complaints e-mail address: hallo@vrt.be.
7. About liability
7.1. Is the VRT liable for its VRT international website and VRT (Sales) content?
The information on the VRT international website and/or in the VRT (Sales) content is the result of meticulous research and analysis. The VRT strives to inform you as accurately and completely as possible, but it cannot guarantee that the content is correct, complete and accurate. The VRT cannot be held liable for possible damage, of whatever nature, both direct and indirect, which you might suffer as a result of using the VRT website and/or VRT (Sales) content.
VRT is not liable for breakdowns, disruptions or malfunctions in the electronic delivery of the VRT international website and/or VRT (Sales) content.
VRT has the right to optimise, adapt and discontinue the VRT international website and/or VRT (Sales) content at any time and without any prior notice. In case of temporary or definitive unavailability of the VRT website, you are not entitled to any damages or compensation of any kind.
VRT cannot be held liable for any issues as a result of the integration of VRT (Sales) content on your website. The VRT takes all reasonable measures to ensure that the VRT international website and VRT content do not contain viruses, but VRT cannot guarantee this. You are therefore responsible for taking the necessary protective measures (e.g., installing anti-virus software).
7.2. Is VRT liable for external websites?
The VRT International website allows access to external websites (e.g., through a link) or some form of interactivity with them (e.g., social media). The VRT does not check these websites or their content. The VRT cannot be held liable for the content or quality of these websites, nor for the compliance of these websites with the applicable laws and regulations. The existence of a link does not necessarily imply that the VRT and the operators of these websites collaborate in any way or that the VRT supports of approves of the information on these websites.
7.3. What are your responsibilities?
You are responsible for complying with these terms of use.
VRT remains responsible for the VRT international website and the VRT (Sales) content offered, but you are responsible for its reuse (e.g., by embedding), and you indemnify VRT against any claims by third parties as a result. The VRT reserves the right at all times to delete the VRT (Sales) content from your website.
