VRT leads the way in broadcast innovation with NetOn.Live
As the International Broadcast Conference (IBC) kicks off in Amsterdam, a spotlight shines on NetOn.Live, a Brussels-based startup that is set to revolutionize the world of live broadcasting. The 57th edition of this prestigious event, gathering over 1,250 companies, will showcase the latest advancements in broadcast technology. With participants from 170 countries, including about thirty Belgian companies, the conference is a key opportunity for networking and deal-making. Among the attendees is the Belgian start-up NetOn.Live that stands out for its potential to transform live production workflows.
Transforming Live Production with LiveOS
NetOn.Live’s LiveOS is making a significant impact on the live broadcasting industry by simplifying and enhancing production workflows. Developed by Michel De Wolf, a seasoned TV technician, LiveOS allows for rapid customization and adaptation of live production environments through its modular approach. This technology has been effectively used by VRT in major events, including the Olympic Games, demonstrating its potential to streamline complex processes and improve overall efficiency.
VRT’s Commitment to Innovation and Collaboration
VRT’s involvement with NetOn.Live through its Sandbox incubator reflects the broadcaster’s dedication to fostering innovation and collaboration within the media sector. De Wolf, frustrated by the limitations faced by producers during live broadcasts, developed LiveOS to overcome these challenges. The solution has been extensively used at VRT, from the ‘wraps’ for Ketnet presenters to the live production of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Martijn Rymen, head of the technology team for VRT’s TV studios, notes that LiveOS centralizes all functions on one screen, allowing VRT to produce more content with fewer resources.
This partnership underscores VRT’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements and enhancing its capabilities as a modern public broadcaster. By supporting the development and refinement of LiveOS, VRT is playing a crucial role in advancing industry standards and embracing new technologies.
A Global Stage for Innovation
As NetOn.Live prepares to showcase its technology at the IBC, the company is set to explore new opportunities for global expansion and collaboration. The IBC provides a critical platform for industry leaders to connect, share insights, and discover groundbreaking solutions that are shaping the future of broadcasting. NetOn.Live’s presence at the conference highlights its ambition to scale globally and contribute to the technological revolution in broadcasting.
