As data journalism is a rapidly growing form of investigative journalism, the news department of VRT (VRT NWS) aims to make working with data more accessible to the entire editorial team. NWSify responds to the need of journalists to make open data easily searchable and automatically visualised so that it can be immediately used for news production. The innovation project offers a tool that automatically creates data visualisations of open data, such as employment or population figures, following the branding guidelines of VRT NWS. 

In addition to helping journalists strengthen their stories with data visualisation, VRT is looking into the possibility to detect stories in the data using AI, and even potentially spot anomalies.
